As the year draws to a close, and we look back over what was indeed a year filled with challenges for the Office of the FAIS Ombud, we are proud to say that despite all the challenges faced, we were still able to fulfill our mandate to resolve complaints in a procedurally fair, informal, economical and expeditious manner, with reference to what is equitable in all circumstances.
The unexpected resignation of the previous acting Ombud, Ad. Tshombe, during September 2022, followed by the appointment of Ms. Thobile Masina as Acting Ombud for a period of 6 weeks, created much uncertainty both inside and outside the organisation. This uncertainty was however short lived with the permanent appointment, of Adv. John Simpson effective 1 November 2022.
